Anderson has been designated as a T-STEM (Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Academy by the Texas Education Agency - one of only four T-STEM Academies in Central Texas. TEA describes T-STEM Academies as "rigorous secondary schools focusing on improving instruction and academic performance in science and mathematics-related subjects and increasing the number of students who study and enter STEM careers:"
This is a great honor and requires that we provide dual credit at no cost to students, offer rigorous instruction and accelerated courses, provide academic and social support services to help students succeed, increase college readiness, reduce barriers to college access, and align to regional workforce needs for ICIA, P-TECH, and T-STEM models.
Our new Applied Technology Center was a large part of our designation as a T-STEM Academy. We are excited about the resources and the connections with the engineering and manufacturing community which this designation opens up. Our teachers will be receiving professional development to help them incorporate Project-Based ideas into their lessons.
