  • Congratulations!!! Aseel Rawashdeh, has been named a top 40 finalist in the 81st Regeneron Science Talent Search – The Nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors. Aseel Rawashdeh was recently named a top 300 scholar, and now as a finalist will participate in the Finals Week competition March 9-16, 2022. Finalists are each awarded at least $25,000 and the top 10 winners will receive awards ranging from $40,000 to $250,000.

    Aseel joins the ranks of 13 Nobel prize winners, 22 MacArthur Foundation Fellows and many other distinguished alumni of the Science Talent Search. This honor identifies Aseel Rasashdeh among the Nation’s most promising young scientists or mathematicians.

 

  • Congratulations to the Anderson Trojan Business Professionals of America (BPA) team! They competed Jan 15 & 16th in the Area III Region 2 Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) for the first time with four Trojans qualifying for State and two alternates!
    The following scholars had award winning performances and qualifying to compete at the State level: Isha Konda: Extemporaneous Speech and Sabina Berkley, Zach Nguyen & Brad Siegel: Administrative Support Team.  Miles Whitehill and Sam Frieden qualified as State Alternates! Go Trojans!! 

  • Reflections Entries Advancing to State! This is the highest honor as only one entry per category from all of Austin goes to the Texas PTA Reflections level.  Earning the Overall Awards of Excellence and advancing to State for the Theme

      Erin Williams’ Visual Arts, “Spread Kindness”

 

  • Please Congratulate Jamie Antonacci and Kara Moy, both Seniors, for making the All-State Treble Choir this past weekend. The audition process started early in the Fall with over 20,000 participants.  In this final round, they competed against the top 5 students from 4 Regions of the State to earn their spot. These two will now get to sing at the TMEA Convention in February and have an amazing experience with other students from throughout the state!

    The College Board deadline to place the order for the 2022 AP exams was November 15, 2021.  
    • Students can still register for AP exams, but the College Board $40 late fee begins November 16, 2021. 
      The final registration and payment deadline is January 31, 2022.  
      There are two steps to registering for AP exams.  Both must be completed by the deadline.  
    • Students and Parents should log into the Total Registration

      College Board  https://myap.collegeboard.org/loginto be sure all registrations and payments match.

  • Twilight Credit Recovery Spring Semester (Virtual)

We are offering a Credit Recovery Program for students to recover credit.  Classes are online. Twilight will begin Monday January 10 – May 26, Monday – Friday and selected Saturdays (TBD) from 5:30 – 7:00.

  • Please Congratulate Jamie Antonacci and Kara Moy, both Seniors, for making the All-State Treble Choir this past weekend.  The audition process started early in the Fall with over 20,000 participants.  In this final round, they competed against the top 5 students from 4 Regions of the State to earn their spot. These two will now get to sing at the TMEA Convention in February and have an amazing experience with other students from throughout the state!
     
  • Congratulations to band members Darien Salter (Junior) & Kian Dunkin (Senior) whoearned positions in the Texas Music Educators Association, (TMEA) 5A All State Honor band. Darien & Kian rank among the top 0.5% of high school musicians in our state and will represent Anderson well at the TMEA convention in February.     Saturday School resumes this weekend on January 8th from 8-12 in the Library. 
    If you received your report card and saw an asterisk (*) next to your grade, then you did not receive credit for that class.
    This means that you are under 90% attendance for that class and have an “NC” or frozen credit on your transcript. 
    This credit will only activate after you complete the hours needed to make up the attendance.  You do not have to sign up for the class, you can just show up and you will receive the Principal's contract to get these credits cleared.
    The doors close at 8:10 so please be on time, bring your chromebook and some homework to work on.

  • STAAR End of Course Testing Opportunity
    Students who need to make-up or retake the STAAR End of Course test/s are registered to test. .
    The Test dates are:
    English 1 – December 7
    Algebra 1 and Biology – December 8
    English II and US History – December 9
    Make up for all tests – December 10
         The English STAAR EOC is a five-hour test and all other tests are four hours.  Students will be given a break to eat lunch.  Students will be taking their break and eating lunch in the testing room.
         Students should bring their Chromebook, charger, water bottle, and lunch.  If students do not bring lunch, we will order lunch from the cafeteria.

  • Varsity Boys Golf won it’s 5th tournament of the year on Sunday, at the Westwood Invitational. Keaton Vo tied for 1st place with a 69, Trent Mierl claimed 2nd place with a 72, Max Weisser placed 3rd with 73 and Lucas Chan shot 74 for 4th place.  Great way to end the fall season! Looking forward to the Spring and on to State!

    Our Winter Concert at Westover Hills Church is on Thursday, December 9th @ 7pm. This concert will feature Anderson and Murchison choir & Madrigal singers performing their annual Winter concert. Join Us!!
    Annual Caroling Fundraiser is the next day on Friday, December 10th from 7 – 9 pm.

  • STAAR End of Course Testing Opportunity
    Students who need to make-up or retake the STAAR End of Course test/s are registered to test. .
    The Test dates are:
    English 1 – December 7
    Algebra 1 and Biology – December 8
    English II and US History – December 9
    Make up for all tests – December 10
         The English STAAR EOC is a five-hour test and all other tests are four hours.  Students will be given a break to eat lunch.  Students will be taking their break and eating lunch in the testing room.
         Students should bring their Chromebook, charger, water bottle, and lunch.  If students do not bring lunch, we will order lunch from the cafeteria.

Old News Still Pertinent/deadlines approaching:     

  • Advanced Placement Announcement:
    The College Board deadline to place the order for the 2022 AP exams was November 15, 2021.   
    • Thank you to those who made the payments and reached out if they had concerns.   
    • If a payment was not made by November 15, 2021, then the AP exam was canceled   
    • Students can still register for AP exams, but the College Board $40 late fee begins November 16, 2021.  
      The final registration and payment deadline is January 31, 2022.   
      There are two steps to registering for AP exams.  Both must be completed by the deadline.   
    • Students and Parents should log into the Total Registration  https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/440294 and   
      College Board  https://myap.collegeboard.org/loginto be sure all registrations and payments match.   
    • Students may cancel an exam up until January 31, 2022 at 11:59 pm.  All cancellations after November 15, 2021 incur a $40 College Board cancellation fee per exam.  There are no refunds after January 31, 2022.  To cancel an exam, log in to Total Registration: https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/440294  |
