LC Anderson Yellowjackets recognized at this week's football game!

At this week's football game vs Manor, we will recognize alumni from the Original LC Anderson High School.  Please join us to honor these men and women and celebrate our shared history and the legacy of these members of our special community.  From 1889 – 1971, LC Anderson High School thrived as the premier school on Austin’s east side.  The LC Anderson Yellowjackets football team were the State Champions in 1942, 1956, 1957 & 1961, and produced NFL greats like Hall of Famer Dick “Night Train” Lane, former Houston Oiler Julian Spence, and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson.  Also notable was the Anderson High School Yellow Jacket Band, whose lofty alumni include bop trumpet great Kenny Dorham and former Motown arranger Gil Askey.  Austin’s reputation as a music town was forged by the Anderson High School band. Uniforms as bright as a September sunrise, the Yellow Jacket Band would trek to the annual Prairie View Interscholastic League competitions and invariably come back with a trophy. The Jacket band won the state championship seven times from 1940-1953.

Honorees will include members of the LC Anderson Yellow Jacket Championship Football teams, cheerleaders, band members, drill team members, and other alumni.  Hope to see you there!
