Anderson’s Drug and Alcohol Awareness Committee has a new name!
Our program will now be known as RAD—Resisting Alcohol and Drugs.
RAD sponsors the Safe Homes Program at Anderson.
Mission Statement: To encourage and empower Anderson students to lead a healthy life free of drugs and alcohol.
Goal: To create an awareness of the dangers of teen drug and alcohol use to the Anderson community.
Objectives:
1) Use Trojan Times, Trojan News and The Edition for educational articles concerning current information about drug and alcohol use.
2) Develop a website as a resource for parents and teens.
3) Create programming to provide insight and address current issues.
Goal: To create a message for adults and teens that TEEN drug and alcohol use is not healthy, acceptable or legal.

*Question of the Week, Red Ribbon Week; finding ways to address the legalities
Goal: To give our teens ways to cope with the pressures of high school i.e. peers, academic and extracurricular expectations, college readiness, acceptance, family and community expectations.

1) Advisory curriculum, small group sessions with counselors or other professionals,
2) PDAP, Youth Partnership for Change (YPC), online sources
Goal: To give our teens ways to say no when approached about drugs and alcohol; offer choices for healthy alternatives.

Long Term Goal: Eliminate the stigma surrounding the decision not to use drugs and alcohol.
