ACCOLADESCongratulations to the Trojan wrestling team who beat McCallum in their first dual meet of the season.  The boys won 45-21, and the girls had a 24-18 victory.  The fastest pins of the night were recorded by Josh Gervais and Lilian Lopez.

TODAY: The Anderson High School Dance Department will be presenting their Fall Dance Concert on Thursday, November 16th.This exciting show will feature the entire AHS Dance Department: Dance I-IV, Dance Guard, Athletes Dance, & the Trojan Belles! You will see Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, and more! Tickets will be sold during lunch TODAY OR at the door 30 min. before the show. Tickets are a $3 donation if purchased at lunch & a $5 donation if purchased at the door. Shows are Thursday, November 16th at 6pm & 8pm in the AHS theater. Come support Anderson Dance at Fall Dance Concert and kick off your Thanksgiving break!

Students - The City of Austin is Hiring Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Swim Team Coaches, Cashiers and Pool Attendants.   The majority of employees receive training in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. Don’t miss out on your chance to earn as much as $13.50 an hour! Applicants need only be 15 years old to apply.  Representatives will be at a table in the courtyard breezeway facing the student parking lot during lunch on Thursday & Friday - stop by for more information or go to the College & Career Center page at www.andersononline.org

We look forward to getting to know new people, and share our cultures and traditions with one another.  The World Language team is thankful to have such wonderful students!

 STAAR End of Course will be administered Dec 4 - 8.  Students who require a retest will be notified the week of November 27th.   Testing will begin each day at 9:00.

ACCOLADES:   The AHS Boys Golf team won 1st place yesterday in the Bastrop JV Invitational Tournament. Jimmy Disorbo was 1st place Medalist with a 76 & Cooper Schmidt placed 3rd with 78. Other members of 1st place team were Ethan Erb, Ty Laves & Clint Phelan. Outstanding job, Trojans!

TODAY:  The Anderson girls and boys wrestling team have their first home dual meet of the season against McCallum tonight at 7.  Come out and support Trojan wrestling!

We will be phasing cell phone use and visibility out of instructional time in every classroom at Anderson.  Students will still be able to use their phones during passing periods and lunch, however, they will NOT be allowed to use their phones in the hallways, bathrooms, etc. DURING class periods.  This change will be universal across the Anderson campus beginning January 4th, 2018.

ACCOLADES:  The varsity girls’ basketball team did a great job in Copperas Cove this weekend with Senior Captain Riley Allen and Senior Becca Fulthorpe making the all tournament team. Please come support our Lady Trojans at our first home game tomorrow night with freshmen/JV playing at 5:30 and varsity game at 7:00!

We will be having open gym today and for the remainder of the week.

ACCOLADES:  The Anderson JV Tennis Team came away with a strong showing in their first tournament of the season at the Georgetown JV Tennis Tournament.  Alex Larre took third in Girls Singles, Lily Schubert and Helen Jewart teamed up to take third in Girls Doubles, and Ben Claflin came away with 2nd in Boys Doubles.  Congratulations Trojan JV Tennis!

Please come out and support your Anderson Trojan football team, Band, Belles & Cheerleaders at their final regular season game vs Del Valle 7:30 at Nelson Field!  We will be recognizing senior football, trainers & cheerleaders starting at 6:55 and Band and Belles at halftime.  We still have a path to the playoffs so everyone come out to cheer on the Trojans!

Thus, we will be phasing this change in slowly between now and the beginning of the Spring semester. Given that cell phones and the accompanying social media feeds are significant distractions in the classroom, we believe this change will be beneficial for all during instruction. ACCOLADES:  The AHS Girls golf team claimed 4th place in the Joy Riley Invitational tournament yesterday. Low scorer was Josie Pettijohn with a 98.

ACCOLADES:  Anderson Astronomy would like to congratulate both Leah Griffith and Bailey Williams for their acceptance in the prestigious NASA High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program.  The NASA HAS program is an intensive interactive online learning experience highlighted by a week long internship at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Selected students are encouraged to study mathematics, science, engineering and computer science by interacting with engineers at NASA's Johnson Space Center. From across the state of Texas, students are selected to participate by their state legislator and teachers through a highly competitive process. Leading up to their acceptance, both Leah and Bailey have demonstrated excellence in their academics as well as interest and leadership in science and engineering.  We are extremely proud to have these two brilliant minds represent Anderson High School and AISD!

Hi, my name is Philippe Papa, and I am one of Anderson’s two TEDxYouth@Austin ambassadors. This Wednesday, from 5:15-7:15 We will be discussing TED and watching a reel of TED talks as well as participate in activities exploring the topics of power and moving beyond your comfort zone. We hope to give students a taste of this year’s full day TED Talk event in February held at Westlake high school, where speakers from across the globe are invited to share their expertise and experiences.  Everyone is welcome and attendance is free. Remember, this Wednesday, from 5:15-7:15. Thank you and can’t wait to see you there.
