STUDENTS: PARKING AT THE CHURCH ACROSS THE STREET IS NOT ALLOWED!   You run the risk of being towed if you insist upon parking at the church.    Please get to school early and park in the student lot.

 

KUDOS: Varsity baseball beat Round Rock last night 6-5 in 9 innings.  Walker Sigman picked up the win and Zach Blackburn had 3 RBI's.  Please come out next Tuesday to Nelson field at 5 pm and support your Trojans as they open district play vs. Manor.

            Congratulations to Kylie Bly who was awarded a National Gold Key for her charcoal drawing "Las Arrugas". She will be honored at Carnegie Hall in New York City this summer. 

Also Congratulations to Ruby Denton who was awarded a National Silver Key for her painting "Porterfield Gap"

            Girls’ soccer first round playoff game will be at Round Rock Dragon stadium vs Round Rock this Friday, March 24th at 7:30pm. Come support your Lady Trojans in the state playoffs!

This week the Spirit Store will be open during lunch on Friday, March 24.  The March sale is still on - so stop by, shop and say hello!

EOC TESTING NEXT WEEK

EOC Information – Important Information for all grade levels!

 

English STAAR End-Of-Course Testing:

Tuesday, March 28th: ENGLISH I

Wednesday, March 29th: ENGLISH I make-ups

Thursday, March 30st: ENGLISH II (and ENGLISH I make-ups)

Friday, March 31st: ENGLISH I & II make-ups

    1. On testing dates, students will report to directly their assigned test sites.
    2. Student rosters with test locations and room displacement charts are posted in the halls. Any student who does not see their name posted should come to room 141 to check on their room assignment.
  • ALL students need to check the signs each day - even on days they are not testing - since many classes will be displaced due to testing:
  • All 3rd FLOOR CLASSES will be displaced on Tuesday and Thursday
  • 1st FLOOR SOUTH CLASSES (130s & 140s) will be displaced Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
    • Students with classes in the areas listed above need to check the posted room displacement charts.
  1. English EOC is a five hour test.
  2. Students cannot be dismissed until the test is completed.
  3. Students will eat lunch in their test sites.
  4. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
  5. Students who do not bring a sack lunch will have an opportunity to purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria.
    • Tuesday’s sack lunch is hamburger or veggie burger and veggie dippers
    • Thursday’s sack lunch is fried chicken or peanut butter/jelly sandwich and sweet potato fries
  6. ***LUNCHES CANNOT BE DELIVERED TO TESTING ROOMS. Students cannot have a parent/guardian, friend, etc. bring food to the office for delivery. It will not be delivered. ***
  7. All students who are not testing will be on a pep rally bell schedule Tuesday through Friday. That means 1st/5th period will go until 10:55am. NO HOMEROOM OR FIT TUESDAY or THURSDAY.

KUDOS: JV softball lost a tough game to Manor 15-10. Varsity softball had a big district victory over Manor 13-1. Varsity softball girl standouts with the bat were Jasmine Garcia, Julie Morales, and Makena Fidler. We also had Alexis Altenbaugh with a great pitching performance. 

 

Juniors, be one of the first 40 students to sign up in Naviance for the Yale presentation this week hosted by a Yale student.  This opportunity is unique in that rather than an admissions officer giving general information, students can give a thorough testament to what Yale is like.

TUESDAY:  Come support your Trojan football players in the 2nd annual BATTLE of the BEAST at Mighty Fine Burgers & Shakes on Tuesday, March 21st!  Our Offense will compete against the Defense (coaches and players) in a five man relay to see which team can eat the BEAST burger the fastest!  Also a percentage of all proceeds from 5-9PM will go to support the AHS Football Booster Club!  Contest begins at 7:45…

KUDOS:   In case you missed yesterday:  Congratulations to the Lady Trojans Varsity soccer team for their undefeated run in district play and they are DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!  They will head into the first round of playoffs following spring break.    Way to go girls’ soccer!

KUDOS:  The AHS Lady Trojans golf team placed 2nd as host team of the Joy Riley Invitational Golf tournament yesterday. Sr. Mackenzie O'Connell was 5th place individual! Varsity team members Karson Osgood, Kacy Hill & Avery Leissner all played well. On to District Championship & Regionals in April!

SPRING BREAK BEGINS ON MONDAY, MARCH 13TH!   CLASSES RESUME ON MARCH 20TH @ 9:00!

 

KUDOS: The AHS Boys Varsity Golf team placed 3rd in the LoneStar Classic hosted by Pflugerville yesterday out of 17 teams-Holt Miller tied for 3rd Place medalist with 74 and Brett Abernathy was 6th place with 79. Other Trojans playing were Jacob Pichette, Colin Wilson & Ben Osgood. Way to Go Trojans!  

                Science Olympiad went to Regionals in San Antonio this past weekend and earned 2nd overall (and 1st in Spirit Award), allowing them to advance to State next month!

Medalists from this Regionals include Kennedy Le, Hector Nguyen, Amanda Suarez, Orhun Darvarci, Nathan Webb, Brianna Rondero, Rachel Greer, Matthew Garcia, Shelby Sturgis, Scout Gockel, Jade Bondy, Dylan Delarosa, and Jennifer Kwon!

KUDOS: Congratulations to the following Art students who on Saturday, February 25th advanced to the State Visual Art Scholastic Event which will be held in San Antonio on April 29th.

Riley Church, Cha’Quan Miller, Ella Alexander, Ashleigh Berry, Atittaya Senanok, Katelyn Swensen, Emily Greer, Ninoshka Robinson, Harper Brand, Danielle Close, Caroline Gray (2 works advancing to State), Chris Garrec, Lauren Schulke, Tiffany Lourdraj, Sophia Hashemi (2 works advancing to State), Maria Quezada, Charlotte Webster, Kiernan Johns, Zac McCain, Scout Gockel, Kylie Bly, Brady Williamson, John Duncan (2 works advancing to State).

Additionally, 137 Art Students earned a score of 4 on their works which is the highest possible score given by the jurors in the regional judging. Congratulations to these talented art students!

            Congratulations to our boys’ JV soccer team as they shutout San Marcos 6-0 and the Varsity team won by a score of 3-1!

The varsity tennis team traveled to Houston last weekend to play in one of the toughest tournaments in the state. The team had some great results in the 32 player draws.

            The Madrigal Singers had a great weekend at the Madrigal Festival in San Antonio.  They brought back straight Superior ratings.

Calling all musicians! Sign-ups for Trojan Live ends TODAY! Make sure you go see Mr. Ashlock in room 201 or Mr. Jones in room 210 before school to sign-up for auditions and get an application. Auditions will take place after school March 21-22 in Mr. Bergdorf’s room.The performances will take place the week of April 3rd.

The Spirit Store will be open TODAY during lunch.  We will kick off our March sale that day with ALL tank tops and t-shirts reduced to $15 each.  What a deal!  Come check it out this Friday!

Congratulations to lady Trojans varsity soccer for their hard fought win last night against Bowie. The game ended in a 1-1 tie and Penalty Kicks. Koral Hughes made TWO saves off her line and the lady Trojans hold their undefeated, first place spot in district. Way to go girls’ soccer!

KUDOS: Last weekend the Speech & Debate teams competed at Westlake and Bowie high schools in an effort to qualify to the NSDA National Championship for Speech and Debate that will take place in Birmingham, Alabama this June.  We qualified 4 talented students in 3 different events who will be competing at the National Championship this summer: 

Anindu Rentala and Bryce Foster, seniors- Public Forum Debate

Ava Patterson, senior- Dramatic Interpretation

Steven Manning, junior- Congressional Debate

We also had several students who placed as alternates to nationals. 

            Local AISD Students Win 1st place at the Regional Business Professionals of America Conference in College Station, advancing to the state level March 2-4 in Dallas. Congratulations to Logan Johnson of AHS and Dayne Ware of LASA who teamed together to compete in Website Design.  Logan and Dayne have been actively involved with BPA for the past 4 years.  Good luck Logan & Dayne!  Ms. Bolin says to "break a leg" and make us proud!

            The Lady Trojans golf team placed 5th in the Round Rock Invitational Golf tournament yesterday. Low score was posted by Avery Leissner. Harper Brand & Morgan Nurisio played well for the Trojans. Please congratulate the Lady Trojan golf team members when you see them.

            Our Anderson Latin Team competed in the Area Latin Tournament at Westwood this weekend and here are more results from that tournament:

KUDOS: Congratulations to all the bachelors that participated in Mr. Trojan.  Anderson's 2017 Mr. Trojan is Rayan Bhargava!

The varsity tennis team had a great tournament on Friday. Nikhil Bernier won 1st place. Gabe Charpentier and Anan Ruia teamed up to win 3rd and Andres Almazan was a semifinalist in boys A singles.

            Congratulations to our Boys’ soccer teams as they swept Akins. The team scores are JVB 2-1, JVA 3-2 and Varsity 3-1!  

            Our Anderson Latin Team competed in the Area Latin Tournament at Westwood this weekend.  Our students won a tournament-best 5 High Score Championship Trophies and took home the 3rd Place Sweepstakes trophy.

            Caryssa Aguirre competed in the state wrestling tournament last weekend in Cypress at 95 pounds.  She recorded 2 pins on Day 1 to move to the 2nd day of competition, and finished in the Top 8 in the state at her weight class.  Congratulations to Caryssa on a great tournament, and an outstanding season!

            The Softball team finished their tournament 2-1 this weekend with a 12-6 win over Shoemaker, a 4-0 win over Crowley, and a tough loss 1-2 against Killeen. All-tournament honors were awarded to pitcher, Jessi Hamlin and catcher, Makena Fidler. The girls play against Leander tomorrow at 7:30.

              The AHS boys golf team played in the Hutto Invitational yesterday and placed 9th out of 23 teams---and 7 of those teams won their district last year!  Low scorers of 82 were Hayden Olander & Will Madrigal.
