Graduation Ceremony Details: 

Date: Friday, June 2 2017

Time: Ceremony starts at 1:00pm. Seniors arrive at 12:00pm (noon).

  • The ceremony generally lasts 2 hours.  If you are planning a celebration for after the ceremony, consider adding in time for guests to ride the shuttle back to Anderson.

Location: Frank Erwin Center1701 Red River St.

General seating is available and tickets are not required.

Friday, May 19: Awards Night Ceremony. This event is by invitation only.

Sunday, May 21: Baccalaureate: 3:00-4:00pm, Westover Hills Church. All seniors are invited.

June 1: Senior Activities

These are required days of attendance for seniors.  No lunches will be served on these days.  Please bring a healthy snack. Seniors are to report to their activity. They must leave campus when their activities are over.  Those who ride the bus home must report to the cafeteria for the remainder of the day if the activity ends early. Graduation practice is mandatory.

Cap/Gown and Announcement Orders:

Herff Jones, 512-504-7100, is our official vendor for cap and gowns.  Cap and gowns from any other vendor will not be allowed. Late fees apply on all orders made after March 15th.  Announcements will be delivered Thursday, April 6th in room 130.  Cap and gown delivery will be May 15th in room 130.  Bring your student ID to room 130.  This is the only time Herff Jones will be delivering caps and gowns.  Don't miss it!!

 

Prom Information:

Date: Saturday April 9th

Time: 8:00pm–11:59pm

Final Transcript Requests: (April 28 - May 15)

Final transcripts will be requested via the Senior Survey beginning Friday April 28th. DO NOT request your final transcript the same way your requested other transcripts. Instructions will be sent via email from Ms Mason beginning April 28. It only takes a few minutes. If you have any problems accessing the survey, please see Ms. Mason in room 133. This is the only way to request your final transcripts.  Email requests will not be accepted. Final transcripts will not be available until mid to late June.

 

Each graduate is given 3 free final transcripts.  One to ACC if needed, one to the university or college you will be attending in the fall and one unofficial transcript sent to the student's address we have on file.  Keep the unofficial transcript for your records.

 

ACC College Credit Hours:

If you took dual credit classes through ACC and plan to send those credits to your university, please understand that ACC will not release your college hours until they receive confirmation that you have graduated from high school.  Therefore, you must first request an Anderson transcript to be sent to ACC (via the Senior Survey) and then you must request ACC to send a final transcript to your university. 

 

Senior Service Day

This year, the senior class will be participating in Anderson’s second “Senior Service Day” on Tuesday, May 30th. While seniors are done with finals at this point, they are still required to attend school the week of graduation. This day has typically been filled with a movie or guest speaker so we are very excited about the opportunity each senior student has to spend the day off campus with their friends! The senior class of over 500 students will be transported in buses and will spread out at locations all over Austin to make an impact in the community. There are many different projects for all types of different interests from hunger to environment to children and more. Students can sign up to pick their volunteer sites at http://signup.com/go/nHpXtOZ. If students don't signup by May 30th they will be assigned to a site.
 
Seniors are required to turn in permission forms for this event. Permission forms may be submitted at the Registrar's office May 8th-12th. Students must turn these forms in by May 12th in order to get their cap & gown order on May 15th! Forms have been distributed in homeroom and have been emailed to students. Graduation Transportation/Parking:

The commencement exercises will take place at the Frank Erwin Center on the UT campus (1701 Red River St. Austin, TX 78701). Due to the construction around the area, we anticipate that there will be traffic congestion and limited parking spaces.  In order to alleviate traffic and parking issues, we have developed a transportation plan that will allow our students and families to ride a shuttle bus to the Frank Erwin Center.  The shuttle buses will start running three hours before each graduation ceremony at a location near your student's high school campus (click here for bus schedule).  This service will be free to all AISD families.  We strongly encourage you to use this service as it will eliminate parking issues, decrease traffic congestion, and allow you to be dropped off at the entrance of the Frank Erwin Center. Diploma:

High school diplomas will not be given to students during the graduation ceremony. The official diploma pickup day will be Wednesday June 7th from 9am to 4pm in the library.  After that date diplomas may be picked up in the library during the summer hours listed below.  Diplomas will only be given to the graduate or the graduate’s parent/guardian.  Graduates may not pick up their friend’s diplomas.  All student obligations must be met before the diploma is released.  Student obligations include but are not limited to the following

  • Return of all school uniforms
  • Return of all musical instruments
  • Payment of all outstanding transcript fees
  • Return of all textbooks and library books (including IB textbooks)
  • Return of all borrowed graduation caps and gowns
  • Clearing of excessive absences through your AP
  • Clear of all club obligations

Project Graduation:

Project Graduation is a PTSA affiliated event organized by Anderson High School senior parents.  It is a FREE, all-night celebration open to ALL graduating seniors. Your senior won't want to miss it. Click here for all the details.
