PURPOSE: To promote the study of Classics and its inference on our world today. To encourage appreciation of Latin & Greek and to make connections and friendships with other Latin students in the United States.
The Anderson HS Latin Club is part of a nationwide organization of over 50,000 members called the Junior Classical League (njcl.org) whose mission is to promote appreciation for the language and culture of the Ancient Greeks and Romans and for their relevance today. Club members can compete at tournaments with other schools from across the area, state and the nation in a wide variety of Latin and Greek themed competitions ranging from Mythology and Latin to Art and Olympic sport. Our local club also holds additional events which include an annual gladiatorial tournament and ten day field trip to Italy every other year.
