
The Scholastic Art & Writing Regional Competition was held this past weekend at St. Stephen's Episcopal School. The Regional Awards for students are as follows:
GOLD KEY: Work demonstrating the highest levels of originality, technique, and personal vision. Gold Key artwork is forwarded to New York City for national adjudication. Students are recognized with Gold Key lapel pins and certificates.
SILVER KEY: Work demonstrating achievement worthy of recognition on the regional level. Students are recognized with Silver Key lapel pins and certificates.
HONORABLE MENTION: Work demonstrating artistic potential. Certificates of Merit are presented to students.

We were pleased to be notified over the break that of fifteen our football players were named to the Texas Academic 5A All-State Football Team – a wonderful honor for our team and a testament to their hard work not only on the field, but also in the classroom. Football players honored were: Adam Berenson, Patrick Brinkman, Justin Clark, Jordan Crosswell, Michael Engelhardt, Leonard Green, Jake Halling, Riley Holmes, Colin Kowal, Jacob Moody, Juan Schwitzgebel, Connor Sheehan, Michael Sommerdorf, Bradley Stahl, and Robbie Tarantolo.
The boys' and girls' basketball teams both made it to the Playoffs for the first time in school history! I.J. Poole and John Gramlich were named 1st Team All-District and Hayden Graham was named 2nd Team All-District. Justin Clark was named 2nd Team All-District Honorable Mention. In addition, Nic Bach, Justin Clark, Will Cunningham, Alex Frame, Hayden Graham, John Gramlich, and I.J. Poole were named Academic All-District. Will Cunningham, Justin Clark, and I.J. Poole were named Academic All-State. Congratulations to our basketball young men and women.
We had the entire Speech and Debate Team in action at a tournament in Stoney Point this weekend and Kimia Dargahi traveled to Nashville to represent us in the prestigious Montgomery Bell Academy Invitational Extemporaneous Speech Tournament. Swimming, tennis, and soccer have begun their spring seasons and are participating in pre-district competitions. Our high achieving students just continue to make us so proud.
Anderson High School Chinese Program is accepted into the Hanban – Asia Society Confucius Classrooms Network, a network of 60 explamary high school Chinese programs in the nation to serve as national models of excellence in the field of Chinese language teaching and learning.

The Anderson Wind Ensemble named the Top Texas Band in the Region. That makes us one of the top 10 Concert Bands in District 5A in Texas. The Wind Ensemble was aslo ranked in the top 15 band in the entire state.
Named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition Honor Roll as one of the top fifteen high schools in Texas.
Honored by the Google Corporation for exemplary performance in math on the ACT, SAT, AP, and IB exams.
One of two Austin high schools named to a list of “Higher Performing” schools by the nonprofit National Center for Educational Achievement.

In Speech and Debate, this year's senior class is easily the most decorated in Anderson's recent history, leading their team to a 5th Place finish at the State Tournament and qualifying for numerous elite national tournaments.
In Dance, the Trojan Belle officers successfully defended their State-Championship title at the Marching Auxiliaries State Dance Contest this year, and we have graduated students dancing at Vanderbilt, Hendrix College, Southwestern University, Kilgore College, UT, A&M, and Sam Houston State University.
All the performing music organizations (Band, Choir, and Orchestra) received the highest UIL awards "Sweepstakes" and our graduates will be studying at the San Francisco Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, LSU, University of Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech, Baylor, and other schools around the country.
In Visual arts we had a great representation at the "Vase" and Scholastic competitions and other art awards and our students will be studying art at numerous post-secondary settings including Pacific Northwest College of the Art in Portland Oregon and U.T.
In Drama our One Act Play advanced to Area and our graduates will be studying at De Paul, USC, and SMU.
Eighteen student athletes from Anderson’s Athletic Program will be going on to play college athletics.
Our Science students did extremely well in State and Regional Competitions. They were the top 3 finishers in the State in Bio Chemistry, Cellular & Molecular Biology and Bio Engineering.
